Introduction:
Adjustment is “the psychological processes through which people manage or cope with the demands and challenges of everyday life”. It is also a process by which a living organism maintains, a balance between the needs and the circumstances. In psychological literature, “Adjustment” is used in two senses: as process and as condition. A general style of life is evolved as a result of facing different stresses while striving to fulfill the needs of an individual which has relatively stable characteristics and this composite style of life has also been termed as adjustment. The two poles of this complicated dimension of personality are called good adjustment and maladjustment.
Good (1959) states that adjustment is the process of finding and adopting modes of behavior suitable to the environment or the changes in the environment. Kul shrestha (1979) explained that the adjustment process is a way in which the individual attempts to deal with stress. People in the area of positive pole of this dimension are adjustable, well organized, satisfied with their life and efficient in their work. Their emotions are well controlled.
Psychoanalytic model defines adjustment as balancing different components of personality (id, ego, superego) at the unconscious level in such a way that workable balance of personality system is maintained along with a tolerable balance of instincts(sex and hate).Behaviorists perceive adjustment as the conditioning of those responses to different aspects of environment which enables the individual to receive rewards and to maintain logical expectations. In the humanist model, adjustment is the process of growth and development of the self to the highest level as an actionist seeking and using stress as an instrument to understand himself to increase his capacity, to invent new ways to solve problems and to recognize real goals and to achieve mental satisfaction by gaining self-determined meaningful goals.
Due to the increasing demands and challenges of everyday life ,such as excessive materialism, rapid cultural change, family demands, social demands, family and teacher’s high expectations from students, various adjustment problems have occurred.
Neuroticism is prone to be neurotic. This negative pole has been attributed by several names such as emotionality, emotional instability, and maladjustment. Neurotic personalities are characterized by dissatisfaction, irritability, immaturity, self centredness, escapism anxiety and worry. Profuseness and strong intensity of these negative conditions give rise to such distorted forms of maladjustment as neuroses and psychoses.
Recent notion of adjustment contains two supplementary orientations –both effective adaptation and modification, development and growth in immediate physical-social-psychological environment.

Test Administration:
Procedure:
Subject was instructed before taking the test as per manual. The subject was informed about the test, its relevance and the questionnaires were handed to him. The Subject’s consent was requested and assured that the data obtained will remain confidential and was requested to proceed with the test and ask for help if needed.
Testing:
The test was conducted in the office room. After the subject was instructed the test was conducted with all the materials. The subject was requested to ask for any assistance or confusion he has while performing the test. The subject was then asked for the introspectie response of taking the test.
Introspection:
After the testing was completed the subject was asked to share his experience. He replied, “I enjoyed giving the test but in the middle I was feeling like I was drawing some pattern on the answer sheet though I assure you that I have provided my honest response. For the first three questions I went vertically instead of horizontally so one of my responses does not match and I have corrected that hope you will consider that. Overall the experience was a fun one though the number of questions were quite more than I expected”.
Release:
After the subject provided the introspection report, the subject was released with thanks and assuring him that he will receive his scoring on our next meeting.

Table: Obtained Score for ANDI
The raw score was calculated using the scoring key for ANDI after the subject submitted the answer sheet. The raw scores are the ones recorded as the obtained score mentioned on the above table. Then the STEN score for each of the dimensions was calculated using the ANDI manual.
The sten score for the first dimension is 6 and considered normal but falls on the range towards the self- inferiority. Similarly the Sten score for the second dimension is 2 so the subject falls on the end of the happiness, for the remaining dimension the sten score is below 5 representing Calmness over anxiety, naturality over obsessiveness, Independence over dependence, Feeling of being health over Hypochondrianess and Innocence over Guilt feeling on the respective dimensions.
Impression:
The subjects seem to be happy, independent, calm, natural and innocent but seem to have a bit of self-inferiority. The overall score represents the subject does not fall under neuroticism and have a calm happy life.
